Let me ask you a question. In your personal opinion, what do you understand it takes for a person to go to heaven?
I would like to share with you how the Bible answers this question. There is a word that can be used to answer this question: FAITH.
F is for FORGIVENESS. We cannot have eternal life and heaven without God's forgiveness.
"In Him (meaning Jesus) we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins" - Ephesians 1:7a, NIV.
A is for AVAILABLE. Forgiveness is available for all.
"For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16, NIV.
I is for IMPOSSIBLE. It is impossible for God to allow sin into heaven. God is Love and God is Just. "For judgment is without mercy" - James 2:13a, NIV. Man is sinful. "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" - Romans 3:23, NIV.
So how can a sinful person enter heaven, where God allows no sin?
T is for TURN. If you were driving down the road and someone asked you to turn, what would he or she be asking you to do? (change direction) Turn means to repent. In other words, do a 180! Turn from sin and self - Turn to someone; trust Christ only. "Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and He was buried, and He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures" - 1 Corinthians 15:3b - 4, NIV. "If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved" - Romans 10:9, NIV.
H is for HEAVEN. Heaven is eternal life. "I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly." John 10:10b, NIV.
If you understand what you have just read, and would like to receive this forgiveness by trusting in Christ. Then I would like to invite you to pray this simple prayer.
"Lord, I know I am a sinner. I know I can't live without you. I ask you to come into my heart and take full control of my life. Please forgive me for trying to do it on my own." Amen
If you just prayed this prayer, let me congratulate you on your first step of faith. I encourage you to follow up with a local Bible teaching church and get plugged into a good Bible study to grow in your faith. God bless you in your journey!
